About SBDC
The Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network is
a non-profit, statewide network of college and university-based centers
that link the resources of the federal, state and local governments,
as well as the private sector. The SBDCs provide entrepreneurs with
the one-on-one counseling, management training and information they
need to prosper and grow in a complex and competitive global economy.
In 2002 alone, Florida’s SBDCs helped its clients open 431
businesses; create or retain 8,501 jobs; win contract awards worth
$126.2 million; acquire $73.3 million in capital for business formation
and expansion; and enjoy sales growth worth $72.6 million.
Free services
One-on-one counseling is provided by SBDC Certified Business Analysts
who have "real-world" business management experience, advanced
degrees in business administration, and a high level of technical
business know-how. These individuals are available to help answer
questions, identify problems and find solutions, share knowledge
and information, discuss ideas, and provide advice related to virtually
any area of business management. Counseling sessions are personalized,
confidential and, best of all, free of charge.
