In the unlikely event of an emergency, outdoor warning sirens may be activated to alert you to go inside and tune to local media for more information.

  • Hearing an outdoor warning siren or receiving an emergency alert does not necessarily mean to evacuate the area. If you hear a siren, go indoors and tune to local media for more information.
  • Outdoor warning siren tests are conducted by local emergency management officials on the first Thursday of March, June, September and December. In rare circumstances, sirens may also occasionally be triggered by lightning or electrical storms.
  • If you hear an outdoor warning siren outside of the normal testing schedule, go inside and check the emergency alert system radio and/or television stations for more information.
