Meet Rick Byars

Rick Byars is FPL’s external affairs manager serving the Greater Pensacola and Escambia County areas. Rick is responsible for building and fostering community relationships and coordinating external outreach for major construction projects including solar centers and reliability projects in the county.

Rick has been a member of the FPL team for 7 years, working in many areas of the company including economic & community development, community relationships, customer service and external relations. Rick is an active community advocate, serving on numerous boards and organizations, including the Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce, Century Chamber of Commerce, Perdido Key Chamber of Commerce, Florida West Economic Development Alliance, Escambia County Public Schools Education Foundation, Studer Community Institute and the Aerospace Alliance.  Rick and his wife, Grace, live in Escambia County and enjoy bike riding and taking advantage of the many outdoor recreational opportunities a coastal community offers.

Meet Stephen Heiman

Stephen Heiman has worked for Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) for six years in various roles. Stephen is currently responsible for the development of solar energy projects throughout Florida. Previously, he worked as a company spokesperson and media relations specialist focusing on renewable energy in the Sunshine State.

Stephen’s work experience includes serving in the Florida Legislature under two Florida governors as well as working with the state’s CFO supporting international relations, economic development growth and state incentive programs. 

A fifth-generation Floridian, Stephen grew up in central Florida before moving to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in International Affairs. He relocated to North Palm Beach in 2014, joining the FPL family shortly after. In his spare time, Stephen enjoys fishing and woodworking.
