Volunteers
At FPL, we're working together with the communities we serve to make Florida an even better place to live, work and raise a family. Our employees and their families donate thousands of volunteer hours each year to make a difference in their communities. In 2023, employee volunteers contributed nearly 55,000 hours in their local communities through company-sponsored projects and their own personal volunteer time. Additionally, 200+ nonprofit organizations have employees volunteering on their boards.
Power to Care Week
In 2023, we celebrated our 15th annual Power to Care campaign at FPL. More than 800 employees, retirees, family and friends came together to volunteer in over 20 projects across more than 10 counties in Florida. Throughout the week, employees rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty to make the communities we serve even better places to live, work and raise families. These service projects included a meal packing event, beach cleanups, school, home and park beautification projects, tree plantings and more. There was also an opportunity for employees and their families, enterprisewide, to participate in a project remotely, assembling hygiene kits – volunteers participated from Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Iowa, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin.
Dollars for Doers
The Dollars for Doers program allows us to recognize, support and encourage the valuable contributions of our employees' volunteer efforts. Our Dollars for Doers program rewards qualifying nonprofit organizations for the volunteer work of NextEra Energy employees when certain criteria are met. Thanks to employees logging their volunteer hours, the NextEra Energy Foundation distributed $141,875 worth of Dollars for Doers grants to deserving nonprofit organizations across the country in 2023.
