And, when outages occur, these improvements help us restore your power faster.

Here are some of the ways we strengthen the system:

• Inspect power poles and replace those that don’t meet our standards for strength.
• Proactively review and trim vegetation where necessary to help prevent outages.
• Strengthen or underground our main power lines that serve critical community services, such as hospitals, police and fire stations, and emergency communication systems.
• Inspect power lines using infrared camera technology to help us locate otherwise undetectable issues and address them before they cause an outage.
• Invest in smart grid technology that helps identify and diagnose equipment issues early so we can service them proactively, preventing many outages before they occur.
