FPL has helped build up and power the Sunshine State for nearly a century. We are committed to delivering reliable electricity while keeping bills as low as possible for our customers.
This includes investing in solar energy to help diversify how we generate electricity and not rely on any single source, making our system more efficient, more resilient and increasingly shielded from gas market volatility.
We are executing one of America’s largest solar expansions because it is one of the most cost-effective forms of new power generation we can invest in on behalf of our customers. Our investments have already paid off with more than $1 billion in fuel savings for our customers – and counting. Solar energy centers are also emissions-free, which protects Florida’s environment.
Each universal solar energy center we build is capable of generating nearly 75 megawatts of clean, emissions-free energy – enough to power about 14,000 homes, while eliminating emissions equivalent to taking 17,000 cars off the road each year.

At FPL, we are dedicated to being good stewards of our natural environment. For our solar facilities, we do this by focusing on practical ecological enhancements, smart land preservation and innovative agrivoltaics exploration.
Protecting the environment is crucial, but we can’t do it alone. Through a partnership with Audubon Florida, an organization which advocates for the protection of land, water and wildlife, the majority of FPL solar energy centers are or will be solar stewardship sites.
