Your business may qualify for tax exemptions that could help you save money if you are charged a Florida sales tax on your electric bill. Certain types of exemptions may qualify your business for a refund of up to three year's of taxes paid.

To learn if your business qualifies for any of the following exemptions or refunds, please contact the Florida Department of Revenue (DOR) directly at 1-850-488-6800.

Now Available: Online Submission

To submit your exemption, we now offer web-based forms. Click on your exemption type below to begin. We will provide guidance throughout the process. You can also refer to your monthly bill to gather the required data.

Important Notes:

  • Ensure the account name you provide matches the account name on your FPL account(s).
  • You may need to upload certain forms from the DOR. Visit their website for more information on the DR-5, DR-14 and other forms.
  • You can submit one application per DR-14. A list of qualifying accounts can be attached with the submission or included in the comments box.
  • Please be aware that these exemptions are specifically for Florida Sales Tax. Franchise charges and Gross Receipts Tax are not exempt with these exemptions.
  • Please see OSHA’s website for additional information on SIC codes required on the manufacturing form.
