FPL’s electric service today is cleaner and more reliable than ever before – while its typical bill is lower than it was a decade ago and among the lowest in the nation – thanks to the smart, long-term investments we’ve made that are supported by customer base rates. Our current rate agreement expires at the end of 2016, and we’ve begun the process of setting new rates that would take effect beginning in January 2017 through the end of 2020. The proposal includes three base rate adjustments phased in over the four-year period that will support continued investments that benefit customers.
We’ve notified the Florida Public Service Commission that we plan to file a formal request in the coming months for new base rates to take effect when the current rate agreement expires at the end of this year. Typically, the PSC takes the better part of a year to conduct a thorough review of a utility base rate request.
Throughout the process, we will update this site with the latest information.
