Welcome to the sunshine energy state

We’re harnessing the power of the sun and water to bring you the clean, reliable energy you deserve

Discover how we’re capturing the sun’s energy with millions of solar panels and advancing a first-of-its-kind clean hydrogen project to help stabilize energy costs, eliminate carbon emissions and make Florida energy independent.

A brighter energy future

Sixty solar energy centers throughout Florida are delivering clean, renewable energy to customers. These centers can generate enough emissions-free energy to power approximately 900,000 homes. By integrating energy storage, we’re able to store solar energy generated by these centers and send it to the grid when it's needed the most.

A Florida first: clean hydrogen

By combining sun rays with water, a cleaner energy future is on the horizon. In December, we broke ground on the FPL Cavendish NextGen Hydrogen Hub – which will use solar and water to create hydrogen that will be compressed, stored and blended with natural gas to help create an energy future free of carbon emissions.

How does clean hydrogen work?

As the FPL Cavendish Solar Energy Center operates, a portion of zero carbon-emissions energy will flow directly to the grid, while the rest will go to power hydrogen production equipment, including an electrolyzer. The electrolyzer splits water into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen will be compressed, stored and blended with natural gas and used as fuel to generate energy served to customers across the grid.
