What are the requirements to qualify for the $150 A/C rebate?

  • A new A/C system purchase, including both indoor and outdoor units
  • 16 SEER (approx. 15.2 SEER2) rated unit and above
  • Residential home installation (excluding mobile and manufactured homes)
  • Installation completed by one of our FPL-approved PICs 

How do I receive my $150 A/C rebate?

When you’re ready to upgrade to a new, energy-efficient A/C, first ensure it meets the rebate qualifications and then follow these simple steps:

  1. Find an FPL-approved PIC
  2. Select a PIC that is right for you and call to schedule the installation
  3. PIC installs your A/C
  4. $150 instant rebate appears as a credit on the invoice your PIC provides

 

How do I know if I qualify for the federal tax credit?

When you upgrade your A/C unit and other residential renewable energy products, you can qualify for federal tax credits administered by the IRS. Get more details. 

What is a SEER rating?

  • SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio and is a measure of an A/C’s average annual cooling efficiency. The higher the SEER, the more efficient the unit.

What is a PIC?

A Participating Independent Contractor (PIC) is a qualified independent business that follows our program standards and you can hire to install your new A/C. Find a PIC.

How does a new A/C unit save me money?

Depending on the size and efficiency of your current A/C, a new system could save you money on your energy bill. If you upgrade an older three-ton A/C with a new, higher-efficiency model, you could save around $470 annually.1

What is a straight cool A/C system?

A straight cool A/C is one that includes a cooling cycle only. A gas, oil or electric strip heater may be included, but it does not have a separate heating cycle. This is a less expensive system compared to others that have a heating cycle, and it’s perfect for mild winters.

What is a heat pump A/C system?

A heat pump A/C provides a cooling cycle during the summer and a heating cycle during the winter. And may cost slightly more than a straight cool system to purchase.
