Located on Hutchinson Island about eight miles southeast of Ft. Pierce, the St. Lucie Nuclear Plant has been powering more than a million homes in south Florida for more than 45 years.
We generate about 2,000 megawatts of emissions-free electricity – enough power to supply the annual needs of more than 1 million homes.
We provide hundreds of quality jobs for the community and contribute hundreds of millions of dollars to the local economy each year.
We protect sea turtles year-round and assist research institutions. We also conduct turtle walks to increase awareness of sea turtle conservation efforts.
We are implementing advanced technology including robotics, drones and digital applications to deliver value to our customers.
Although St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant has safely operated since 1970, extraordinary precautions are taken to ensure the safety of the public and plant workers in the unlikely event of an emergency at the plant.
